What is Newcastle Voice?

There are over  2500 Newcastle Voice members. Anyone 16 years of age and older who is a resident or ratepayer of one of the Lower Hunter Council areas (Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Cessnock, Maitland or Port Stephens) can join Newcastle Voice and take part in consultations with The City of Newcastle.

The goal of the Newcastle Voice community reference panel is to build and maintain community trust and support, as well as obtain public feedback on issues of importance for the elected Councilors, so that their decision-making may be more informed.

Community consultation helps council:
• Plan services to meet the community's needs and expectations
• Find out what is important to the community
• Monitor the effectiveness of our services
• Improve services
• Create a greater feeling of community through building strong relationships with residents
• Create better governance through transparency for development and monitoring of policies, strategies and services.
